Job Summary

Providence College of Engineering is seeking a dynamic and passionate Physical Education Professor to champion a campus-wide culture of physical wellness and sporting excellence. This individual will be the driving force behind all sports and fitness activities on our scenic campus. The ideal candidate will not only teach but also inspire students to embrace a healthy lifestyle, coordinate our flagship sporting events, and develop a diverse range of programs that cater to the varied interests of our student community. Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Program Development: Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive physical education and wellness curriculum that is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the college's holistic development goals.
  2. Student Engagement: Actively promote and increase student participation in a wide array of sports, fitness programs, and wellness activities.
  3. Event Management: Take lead responsibility for the planning, coordination, and execution of all on-campus sporting events, including our prestigious annual tournaments: The Providence Cup (Football) and the George Mathew Memorial Trophy (Basketball).
  4. Coaching & Mentoring: Coach and mentor college sports teams, preparing them for university, district, and state-level competitions. Identify and nurture student talent.
  5. Facility & Resource Management: Oversee the maintenance, scheduling, and utilization of all sports facilities, including the football ground, basketball court, and kabaddi court. Manage the inventory of sports equipment and related resources.
  6. Collaboration: Work closely with student clubs, associations, and other academic departments to integrate physical wellness into the broader student life experience.
  7. Administration & Reporting: Manage the sports activities budget, maintain accurate records of participation and team performance, and provide regular progress reports to the Head of the Science & Humanities Department.
  8. Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe sporting environment for all students by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and best practices.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

  1. Student Engagement and Program Development: Cultivate a campus-wide culture of physical wellness by developing diverse and engaging sports and fitness programs. This involves creating opportunities that encourage broad student participation and cater to a variety of interests and skill levels
  2. Campus Sporting Event Management: Oversee the successful planning, coordination, and execution of all on-campus sporting events. This includes managing the college's flagship annual tournaments, the Providence Cup and the George Mathew Memorial Trophy, to enhance their prestige and impact.
  3. Competitive Team Development and Mentorship: Build and nurture the college's sports teams to be competitive in inter-collegiate tournaments. This involves identifying student talent, providing effective coaching and mentorship, and preparing teams for high-level competition.
  4. Sports Facility and Resource Optimization: Ensure the effective management, maintenance, and safety of all campus sports facilities and equipment. This area focuses on creating a safe, accessible, and well-equipped environment for all students and staff.

  1. For Student Engagement and Program Development:
    • Observed growth in student participation across various sports and wellness activities.
    • Successful introduction of new and relevant physical activities based on student feedback and interest.
    • Positive feedback and high satisfaction levels from the student community regarding the quality and variety of programs offered.
  2. For Campus Sporting Event Management:
    • Successful and impactful execution of the college's flagship annual sporting events, measured by participation levels, spectator engagement, and overall organization.
    • Consistent and well-organized delivery of intra-college sporting competitions throughout the academic year.
    • Effective and responsible management of the budget allocated for sports and events.
  3. For Competitive Team Development and Mentorship:
    • Demonstrated improvement in the performance of college sports teams in university, district, and state-level competitions.
    • Increased representation of Providence students in university-level and other prestigious sporting events.
  4. For Sports Facility and Resource Optimization:
    • Well-maintained and readily available sports facilities for student use.
    • Systematic and efficient management of sports equipment inventory.
    • Adherence to and promotion of safety standards across all sports activities, resulting in a safe environment for all participants.
