The George Mathew Scholarship Fund

George Mathew, founder of Providence College of Engineering
The George Mathew Scholarship Fund has been set up by the chairperson of the MGM Society in remembrance of our late founder, Shri George Mathew.

In the spirit of our late founder who was renowned for his generosity and consideration for the less fortunate, the chairperson has earmarked one seat each year in each of the seven engineering courses to be allotted tuition free.

Rt. Rev. Thomas Samuel

Chairman, George Mathew Scholarship Fund

Rev. Thomas Samuel, former Bishop of the Madhya Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India, received his early education at CMS School, Thiruvalla, SB College, and CMS College, Kottayam.

He pursued theological studies at Leonard Theological College, Serampore College, Drew University, Princeton University, and New York Theological Seminary.

He went on to served as a lecturer at Christian College, Chengannur, and the United Theological Seminary, Thiruvananthapuram, and was a visiting faculty at Believers Theological Seminary. He ministered in parishes across Kerala and the U.S., including New York and New Jersey.

After bing ordained as a presbyter in 1974, he became bishop in 2001.

Vice-Chairman, George Mathew Scholarship Fund

Dr. V. John Kurian, Dean of Research & Development at Providence College of Engineering, holds a BSc in Civil Engineering, an MTech in Structural Engineering, and a PhD in Offshore Structures from IIT Madras.

A life member of several professional bodies, he has guided 20 PhD and 35 MSc students, published 240 papers, and led 32 research projects.

He has worked in India, Nigeria, Oman, and Malaysia, holding roles from lecturer to professor at institutions including NIT Kozhikode, UTP, and UMS.

He has supervised 60 undergraduate projects, conducted 20 courses, reviewed for 20 journals, and led 20 consultancy assignments.
