On 29th July 2025, the BTech 2025–2029 orientation programme featured another engaging session of “Beyond the Algorithm: Learning AI with Stories that Stick” at the Einstein Centre Seminar Hall Dr Sumod Sundar, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Providence College of Engineering, conducted the session Dr Sundar used a story-driven approach to make Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts relatable and memorable for the students He explained that while algorithms and mathematical models form the foundation of AI, it is the application of these ideas in real-life contexts that makes them impactful By weaving together examples from healthcare, intelligent systems, and everyday digital tools, he highlighted how AI is no longer confined to labs but is actively shaping society The session encouraged students to think critically about the role of AI in addressing modern challenges, while also considering the ethical responsibilities that come with it Through interactive discussions, Dr Sundar emphasised that engineers must balance technical proficiency with creativity, empathy, and social awareness Students responded enthusiastically to the engaging format, which combined technical clarity with practical insights The session concluded with the message that AI should be learned and applied not just as code, but as stories of innovation, responsibility, and human progress
