
On 18th July 2025, the orientation programme for the BTech 2025–2029 batch hosted an insightful session titled “From If-Else to Influence” at the Einstein Centre Seminar Hall The session was conducted by Mr Jacob Thomas, Delivery Manager at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), who brought his vast industry experience to guide students on the transition from academic learning to real-world application Mr Thomas began by drawing parallels between coding logic and leadership, explaining how principles like “If-Else” decision-making in programming can be translated into problem-solving and influence in professional life He highlighted the importance of adaptability, logical thinking, and clear communication as core skills for future engineers The session also focused on workplace dynamics, where Mr Thomas shared valuable insights into teamwork, project management, and client interactions in the IT industry He emphasised that while technical knowledge is crucial, the ability to influence and inspire others is what defines successful leaders Through case studies and real-life industry examples, he engaged the students in understanding how engineers can grow into impactful professionals The session ended with an interactive Q&A, where Mr Thomas encouraged students to combine technical expertise with leadership qualities The talk inspired the freshers to look beyond coding and technicalities, preparing them to become influential contributors in the corporate and societal landscape
