On 29th July 2025, the BTech 2025–2029 orientation programme featured an insightful session titled “From Pages to Purpose” at the Einstein Centre Seminar Hall The session was conducted by Dr Manoharan Pillai, Librarian at Providence College of Engineering, who shared the significance of cultivating strong academic and reading habits Dr Pillai emphasised that books and libraries are not just repositories of information but gateways to creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning He encouraged students to move beyond reading textbooks merely for examinations and instead engage with literature that broadens perspectives, sharpens critical thinking, and builds professional as well as personal character The session introduced students to the extensive resources available at the Providence library, including digital archives, research databases, and knowledge-sharing platforms Dr Pillai highlighted how students could effectively use these resources for academic projects, research, and self-development Through anecdotes and motivational insights, he illustrated how great leaders and innovators found inspiration from their reading journeys He urged students to use their time on campus to discover purposeful reading habits that connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications The session concluded with the reminder that while pages provide information, it is up to the reader to transform them into purpose and action
