
The orientation programme for the BTech 2025–2029 batch featured an insightful session titled “G A I N – Generalised, Applied, Interdisciplinary Nexus” on 29th July 2025 at the Kalam Centre Seminar Hall Mr Anoop P P , Assistant Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Providence College of Engineering, conducted the session Mr Anoop introduced the concept of G A I N , which emphasises integrating knowledge across disciplines to develop holistic problem-solving abilities He explained that modern engineering challenges often require not just technical expertise in one domain but a broader perspective that connects multiple fields such as AI, electronics, mechanical systems, and social sciences The session highlighted how interdisciplinary collaboration can lead to impactful innovations in areas like healthcare, sustainable energy, and automation Mr Anoop encouraged students to cultivate adaptability, creativity, and teamwork as essential skills for thriving in the evolving technological landscape Through practical examples and interactive discussions, he illustrated how generalisation combined with applied learning helps engineers design solutions that are relevant, scalable, and socially responsible The session concluded with a motivating call for students to embrace the G A I N mindset, equipping themselves not only as specialists but also as versatile engineers capable of shaping the future
