On 16th July 2025, the BTech 2025–2029 orientation programme featured a thought-provoking session titled “Guardians of the Digital Age: Leading Security for Millions” at the Einstein Centre Seminar Hall The session was led by Mr Sunil Varkey, a seasoned Cyber Evangelist, CISO, CTO, Former Wipro Fellow, writer, mentor, and global thought leader in cybersecurity Mr Varkey shed light on the critical role of cybersecurity in an era dominated by digital transformation and artificial intelligence He explained how today’s engineers must be aware of evolving cyber threats and the importance of embedding security into every stage of technology development Drawing on his vast professional experience, he outlined real-world examples of cyber breaches and highlighted lessons learned from industry practices The session emphasised proactive measures such as ethical hacking, secure coding, data privacy, and the importance of resilience against cyber-attacks Mr Varkey also encouraged students to consider cybersecurity not just as a specialised field, but as a fundamental responsibility of every engineer in safeguarding digital systems and millions of users worldwide Interactive discussions, practical insights, and inspiring career advice made the session both engaging and impactful Students left with a deeper awareness of digital risks and a sense of responsibility as the future “guardians of the digital age ”
