Providence Walkathon 2026 - Strides for Life was successfully conducted on Saturday, 31st January 2026, with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, management, and external stakeholders The walkathon was organised as a collective social initiative to promote health awareness, social responsibility, and community engagement The flag-off programme began with participant assembly, followed by welcome and introductory announcements at Hatchery Junction Safety instructions and walkathon guidelines were briefed to ensure participant well-being The walkathon was officially flagged off by Mrs Mariamma George, Chairperson, Providence College of Engineering The walkathon proceeded along the pre-designated route as per the approved route map Refreshment points and medical support were scheduled at regular intervals to ensure safety and comfort for all participants Volunteers and traffic authorities coordinated to manage traffic flow and maintain discipline along the route The walkathon concluded at Dr K M Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, Kallissery, followed by refreshments and the valedictory (closing) ceremony The closing ceremony featured the welcome address by Dr Saju P John, Principal, and the presidential address by Mr Manish Keezhamadathil, Chairperson, Chengannur Municipality Awareness sessions on Drug Abuse and Road Safety were delivered by Rev Fr Dr Alexander Koodarathil, Managing Director, Dr K M Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, and Dr Vishnu P S , Consultant Neurosurgeon, respectively The prize distribution was carried out in the presence of Mrs Mariamma George, Chairperson, and Mr Nitin Mathew, Executive Director, Providence College of Engineering, followed by felicitation by Mr K M Mammen, Rotary Club of Chengannur The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms Adithya A, Secretary, PRC Rotaract Club The walkathon successfully reinforced the values of discipline, unity, social awareness, and healthy living, making the Providence Walkathon 2026 – Strides for Life a meaningful and impactful community-oriented initiative
