The orientation programme for the BTech 2025–2029 batch featured an inspiring session titled “Unleash the Maker in You” on 17th July 2025 at the Einstein Centre Seminar Hall The session was conducted by Mr Santhosh V Pillai, Founder and CEO of Maklab Innovations, an Entrepreneur, tech storyteller, and Professor of Practice in AI and IoT Known for his innovative approach to education, Mr Pillai motivated students to embrace curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving as essential skills in the 21st century in his talk, Mr Pillai introduced the concept of the “maker mindset, ” which emphasises learning by doing, experimentation, and innovation through hands-on exploration He explained how engineers of the future must not only acquire knowledge but also apply it in creating solutions that address real-world challenges The session included demonstrations and stories of innovation that showcased the impact of computational thinking, gamified learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration Mr Pillai encouraged the students to take advantage of the labs, resources, and opportunities available at Providence to design, experiment, and innovate fearlessly His engaging delivery, filled with practical insights and anecdotes, inspired students to cultivate resilience and creativity as part of their engineering journey The session left students motivated to think beyond textbooks and “unleash the maker within, ” aligning their academic growth with innovation and societal impact
