The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Providence College of Engineering, organised a two-day faculty development workshop titled “ABCD of Machine Learning” on June 11–12, 2025, at the MBA Seminar Hall The workshop, conducted from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on both days, was designed to provide faculty members from Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Internet of Things disciplines with a comprehensive introduction to machine learning concepts and practices The sessions were led by Dr Sumod Sundar, Head of Department, CSE, who served as the resource person Through a series of structured lectures, demonstrations, and interactive discussions, participants were guided through the foundational aspects of machine learning—covering algorithms, data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and applications across various domains The focus was on making machine learning approachable, offering participants a clear understanding of its principles and its transformative potential in research and industry Coordinated by Prof Smita Unnikrishnan and Prof Joby Elsa Abraham, Assistant Professors, CSE, the workshop encouraged active engagement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among faculty members Participants left with practical insights and a stronger conceptual base to integrate machine learning into their teaching, research, and academic projects The programme successfully met its objective of demystifying machine learning and equipping faculty with skills to inspire and mentor the next generation of innovators
