
Providence College of Engineering observed World Environment Day on June 5, 2025, with a series of impactful events organised in association with the Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and PRC NSS Unit 515 and the day aimed to raise awareness about environmental sustainability while showcasing innovative solutions for a greener future The programme began with the Milan Talk (9:30 – 10:30 AM), which set the tone for the day’s activities by engaging students in reflections on environmental stewardship This was followed by the Inaugural Function (11:00 – 12:00 PM), graced by Ms Neetha K Gopal, Head of the Meteorological Centre, Thiruvananthapuram (IMD), as the Chief Guest in her address, she emphasised the urgent need for climate action and the role of youth in adopting sustainable practices One of the major highlights was the Electric Vehicle Expo (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM), organised by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, in collaboration with MG Coastline Garages India Pvt Ltd , Alappuzha, and Chandru Motors, Kollam Students and visitors explored state-of-the-art electric cars and two-wheelers, gaining insights into the future of green mobility Simultaneously, the Poster Presentation and Expo on Sustainable Environmental Practices (11:30 AM – 2:00 PM) showcased innovative ideas by students, focusing on waste management, renewable energy, and eco-friendly technologies The day concluded with a Sustainable Paper Pen Making Session (1:30 – 2:30 PM), encouraging participants to adopt small yet impactful eco-conscious habits The celebrations successfully combined awareness, innovation, and practical solutions, reinforcing Providence’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development
